Support Our Ministries Supports Others
The Deaf & Hard of Hearing Ministries works to support United Methodist churches and ministries in their efforts to be accessible and inclusive of Deaf, hard of hearing, late-deafened, and DeafBlind individuals and families. Financial donations to the United Methodist Advance make it possible so churches can implement a Deaf Ministry. For example, a DHM grant supported the implementation of a Deaf Seniors Program at Magothy Deaf Church for the church’s evangelical and wellness program for Deaf and hard of hearing seniors. A Deaf Ministry Coordinator was hired at a church in Florida with their DHM grant. A Deaf congregation in Tanzania Annual Conference supported efforts for vocational training for their church members with the help of their DHM grant. A Wisconsin United Methodist church received a DHM grant as seed money to start an interpreting ministry so Deaf and hard of hearing individuals could participate in the life of their church.
