United Methodist Committee on Deaf & Hard of Hearing Ministries

The Deaf & Hard of Hearing Ministries Committee of The United Methodist Church is the official steering committee to support United Methodist churches and ministries to be welcoming and accessible for Deaf, hard of hearing and DeafBlind church and community members.

The Deaf & Hard of Hearing Ministries Committee, also known as the DHM Committee, was established in 1992 at the General Conference of The United Methodist Church, known then as a steering committee. The United Methodist Congress of the Deaf (UMCD), a Deaf caucus that included Deaf and hard of hearing leaders and Deaf ministries across the United Methodist connection, created collaborations to support the petition to General Conference leading to the passing and implementation of the committee.
